We have all been very busy in the Infant Classroom during the month of September. We welcomed our new Junior Infants and helped them settle into school with lots of play, fun and a small bit of work!
We began Aistear this month, which involves learning through play.
Our first theme was “Me and my family”
Our stations included; Role play: The kitchen- Children took on the roles of mother, father baby etc in the kitchen, cooked a dinner, set the table, cleaned the kitchen and completed other tasks that needed to be done in the kitchen.
Playdoh: Children used their Playdoh to make different meals on their dinner plates. There was a big variety from sushi to sausages and chips!
Small world: Children added furniture to the dolls house and used small world characters to play and act out family scenarios.
Construction: Children used Lego, blocks etc to design and build their own house.
Water play: Children got the opportunity to wash and dry the babies, put on their nappies and vests and keep them warm after their bath. They all did a fantastic job at minding the babies!
Art: Children used lollipop sticks and match sticks to design their own house.
The children love Aistear and are excited for their new topic next month!
